Apara Ekadashi, observed during the Krishna Paksha of the month of Jyeshtha (May-June), is one of the most powerful and spiritually uplifting Ekadashis described in the Brahmanda Purana. In a conversation between Maharaj Yudhishthira and Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Lord beautifully explains the unlimited glories of this sacred day and how its observance can purify even the most sinful reactions.
Glories of Apara Ekadashi
The word &ldquo;Apara&rdquo; means unlimited, signifying the boundless mercy and merit one receives by sincerely observing this Ekadashi. Lord Sri Krishna explains that even severe sinful reactions caused by dishonesty, cheating, blasphemy, neglect of duty, and disrespect toward spiritual authorities can be destroyed by the powerful mercy of this sacred vrata. The Lord especially emphasizes truthfulness, sincerity, and proper conduct in life, while encouraging everyone to take shelter of devotional service for purification and spiritual upliftment.
The scriptures further glorify Apara Ekadashi by declaring that the merit attained from observing it equals the results of many exalted pious activities, such as bathing at scared holy places like Pushkara and Prayag, worshipping at Varanasi, visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath, and giving charity during holy occasions.
The Power of Apara Ekadashi
Lord Krishna beautifully compares Apara Ekadashi to an axe that cuts down the forest of sins, a blazing fire that burns sinful reactions to ashes, and the rising sun that destroys that darkness of ignorance. In this way, the observance of this Ekadashi helps one progress steadily on the path of bhakti.
In his narration Lord Krishna also mentions Maharaj Yuddhishthira that human life is temporary, like a bubble in water, and should therefore be utilized for spiritual advancement and devotional service to the Lord.
Observing Apara Ekadashi
On this sacred day, devotees engage in fasting according to their capacity, abstaining from grains, legumes, and pulses, while engaging in chanting the holy names of the Lord, hearing Hari-katha, reading Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, and increasing their devotional practices.

Sri Narasimha Chaturdashi marks the divine appearance of Lord Narasimhadeva, the half-man, half-lion incarnation of Lord Krishna, who manifests to protect His pure devotee and uphold His eternal promise: &ldquo;As one surrenders unto Me, I reciprocate accordingly.&rdquo; (Bhagavad-Gita 4.11)
Sri Narasimha Chaturdashi is especially glorious because of the pure devotion of Prahlada Maharaja, whose unwavering faith brought the Lord to personally appear.
Lord Narasimha is known as Prahlada-isha, the Lord of Prahlada Maharaja. His form is both majestic and deeply compassionate. For the demon Hiranyakashipu, He appears as &lsquo;ugram viram&rsquo;, fierce and terrifying, while for His devotee Prahlada, He is gentle, affectionate, and supremely protective. In this way, the Lord perfectly reciprocates according to one&rsquo;s surrender.

The Lord&rsquo;s descent is not merely to destroy demons, but to protect His devotees and uphold dharma. When devotion reaches complete purity, as seen in Prahlada Maharaja, the Lord personally intervenes.

Prahlada Maharaja, though born in a demoniac family, exhibited firm devotion from early childhood. Even while in the womb, he received transcendental knowledge from Narada Muni, which awakened his natural attraction to the Supreme Lord. Despite facing severe persecution from his father, he remained fearless, peaceful, and fixed in remembrance of Lord Krishna. He did not pray for his own safety, nor did he resent his father; rather, he compassionately tried to instruct others in devotional service.&nbsp; It was this pure and fearless devotion of Prahlada Maharaja that attracted the Lord to manifest.
Prahlada Maharaja&rsquo;s life, as described in the Srimad Bhagavatam, reflects deep spiritual wisdom and complete dependence on the Lord. His teaching clearly explain the path of pure devotion.

<h3 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Hiranyakashipu&rsquo;s Hatred and False Pride</h3>
Hiranyakashipu&rsquo;s hatred toward the Lord was deep-rooted and long-standing. From the very beginning, he was opposed to the Supreme Lord, and this enmity intensified when his brother Hiranyaksha was killed by the Lord in His Varaha incarnation. Filled with anger and a desire for revenge, he performed severe austerities, obtained powerful boons from Lord Brahma, and declared himself supreme. Blinded by pride, he could not tolerate his son Prahlada&rsquo;s devotion and repeatedly tried to kill him.
<h3 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The Divine Appearance of the Lord</h3>
To prove Prahlada&rsquo;s words, that the Lord is present everywhere, Lord Narasimhadeva manifested from a pillar in the royal assembly. In a transcendental manner, He killed Hiranyakashipu at dusk, on the threshold, placing him on His lap, and using His nails, thus effortlessly nullifying all the conditions of the demon&rsquo;s boons.
<h3 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The Lord and His Devotee</h3>
Even after the destruction of Hiranyakashipu, the Lord&rsquo;s anger did not settle down until Prahlada Maharaja approached Him with humility and devotion. The same Lord who appeared terrifying to the entire universe became peaceful in the presence of His devotee, revealing the deep and intimate bond between them.

Sri Narasimha Chaturdashi: The Lord Who Protects His Devotees

Rukmini Dwadashi, falling on 28th April, is the auspicious appearance day of Srimati Rukmini Devi, the eternal consort of Lord Sri Krishna and the first amongst his eight primary wives. On this sacred occasion, devotees discuss her unparalleled love, surrender, and unflinching faith in the Lord.
Rukmini Devi appeared as the daughter of King Bhishmaka, the King of Vidarbha. From a very young age, she possessed extraordinary beauty, virtue, and devotion. Although she had never personally met Lord Krishna, her heart was deeply attracted to Him simply by hearing about His divine qualities, pastimes, and unmatched character from sages and devotees.
This is one of the most profound lessons in devotional life, that the devotion for the Supreme Lord begins by hearing.
<h3 class="MsoNormal">Love Through Hearing</h3>
Rukmini Devi&rsquo;s love for Lord Krishna was completely based on spiritual realization. By hearing about Him, she became fully convinced that Krishna alone was her eternal husband. Her devotion was so intense that she rejected all other proposals from various Kings at that time.
When her brother Rukmi arranged her marriage with Shishupala against her will, Rukmini Devi did something unimaginable.
<h3 class="MsoNormal">The Letter of Rukmini Devi</h3>
In complete humility and faith, Rukmini Devi sent a heartfelt letter to Lord Krishna through a trusted brahmana. In that letter, she expressed her deep devotion and pleaded with Krishna to come and accept her as His wife.
She wrote that if Krishna did not come, she would give up her life, as she could not imagine belonging to anyone else. Her words were filled with surrender, determination, and pure love.
This letter is often seen as the perfect example of total surrender to the Lord.&nbsp; 
<h3 class="MsoNormal">The Divine Abduction</h3>
Hearing her plea, Lord Krishna immediately set out to Vidarbha. On the day of her wedding, as Rukmini Devi went to the temple of Goddess Durga, Krishna arrived, lifted her onto His chariot, and carried her away in front of all the assembled kings.
This divine &ldquo;abduction&rdquo; was not an act of force, but a fulfilment of Rukmini Devi&rsquo;s deepest desire, a loving reciprocation from the Lord to His pure devotee.
Krishna later defeated all opposing kings, including Rukmi, and married Rukmini Devi in a grand ceremony in Dwaraka.
<h3 class="MsoNormal">The Ideal of Perfect Surrender</h3>
Rukmini Devi embodies the highest standard of devotion. Without ever seeing Lord Krishna, she developed deep and unwavering love for Him simply by hearing about His glories. Her faith in His protection never wavered, even in the face of great uncertainty. With complete trust and surrender, she accepted Him as the ultimate goal of her life.

The glories of Mohini Ekadashi are described in the Kurma Purana, where Lord Krishna explains its importance to Yudhishthira. In response to his inquiry, the Lord recounts a dialogue between Lord Rama and the great sage Vasishtha.
During this conversation, Lord Rama inquired about a sacred observance capable of removing suffering. Sage Vasishtha described Mohini Ekadashi as a powerful vrata that destroys sins and frees one from material illusion. He further clarified that although the Lord is beyond all suffering, such inquiries are made for the welfare and guidance of all living beings.
Vasishtha Muni then narrated the story of Dhrishthabuddhi, the son of a merchant, who became deeply absorbed in sinful activities and lost all good association. Rejected by society, he wandered into the forest and endured great hardship.
By divine arrangement, he came into contact with Kaundinya Muni, whose association awakened a desire for transformation within him. Following the sage&rsquo;s instructions, he observed Mohini Ekadashi with sincerity, by which his accumulated sins were destroyed, and he attained spiritual purification and liberation.

To observe Mohini Ekadashi, devotees may fast according to their capacity, while strictly avoiding grains, legumes, and pulses. The focus of the day is to deepen one&rsquo;s sadhana and increase remembrance of the Lord.

She desired that Lord Rama personally come and rescue her, thereby upholding His honour and establishing righteousness.

In modern times, Akshaya Tritiya is often associated with the purchase of gold and the pursuit of material prosperity. On this auspicious day, Sudama, a poor Brahmana and dear friend of Krishna, went to Dwaraka to meet Him carrying a small offering of chipped rice. Feeling shy about its simplicity, he hesitated to present it, but Krishna, out of great affection, took it Himself and ate it with joy. Sudama did not ask for any material help, yet by the Lord&rsquo;s mercy, he was later blessed with great prosperity. This pastime shows that Krishna accepts the love behind an offering, and when something is given with sincerity, its result becomes truly Akshaya.
<h2 class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Sacred Significance of the Day</h2>
Akshaya Tritiya is also associated with several significant divine events that highlight its spiritual importance. It marks the appearance of Parashurama, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
On this day, the sacred mother Ganga had descended from the heavenly realms to Earth, bringing purification and divine mercy.
It also marks the beginning of Treta Yuga, the second of the four yugas.
This day is also linked to the beginning of the narration of the Mahabharata by Veda Vyasa, which was written by Lord Ganesha.
Another important event is the blessing received by the Pandavas, who were given the Akshaya Patra by the Sun God, a vessel that provided unlimited food during exile. Together, these events highlight the special and auspicious nature of this day.

This auspicious day also marks the beginning of Chandan Yatra, a festival dedicated to loving service. During this period, devotees apply sandalwood paste to the Deities for twenty-one days, offering relief during the intense summer heat. While the Lord does not require such care, He mercifully allows devotees to serve Him in this sweet way.
At ISKCON Bhiwandi, during this period the Deities are beautifully decorated with fragrant sandalwood pulp, flowers, intricate Gopi dot designs, and elegant summer attire, creating a truly mesmerizing darshan. Devotees also visit the temple to participate in this seva by personally grinding sandalwood to prepare the cooling paste for the Lord&rsquo;s service.
The act of applying to Chandan becomes an expression of affection, humility, and devotion. One can also lovingly perform this seva at home by offering sandalwood to their Deities, cultivating the same mood of care and devotion.

Hanuman ji is the eternal servant of Lord Sri Rama, known not only for his extraordinary strength but for his deep devotion. The Sundar Kand, describing the glorious pastimes of Hanuman ji, is among the most loved sections of the Ramayana and is often recited by devotees with great devotion, expressing their deep affection for him. The Story Behind Kamada Ekadashi
In the city of Ratnapura, a Gandharva named Lalit once made a mistake while singing in the royal court, as he became distracted thinking of his wife, Lalita. Angered by this, King Pundarika cursed him to become a fearsome demon.
Lalita, being a devoted wife, did not abandon him. She followed him through great difficulties and, by good fortune, met sage Shringi, who advised her to observe Kamada Ekadashi with sincerity and offer the merit for her husband&rsquo;s deliverance.
With full faith, Lalita observed the fast, and by its divine power, Lalit was freed from the curse and regained his original form. Freed from suffering, the couple once again attained happiness. In this way, Kamada Ekadashi is glorified for its ability to remove sins and relieve one from suffering.
Observing Kamada Ekadashi &amp; Its Glories

As we come to the final reflection in this series on the divine qualities of Lord Rama, we now consider Samarthaḥ, one who is fully capable and efficient in accomplishing even the most difficult tasks.
In the Valmiki Ramayana, this quality is most vividly seen during the search for Sita and the events that followed.
Ravana, having performed severe austerities, had received a boon from Brahma that he would not be killed by devas, daityas, danavas, yakshas, gandharvas, rakshasas, serpents and other powerful beings. Considering humans and vanaras insignificant, he did not include them in his request.
This decision, born out of pride, became the cause of his downfall.
Lord Rama, appearing in a human form, did not rely on celestial armies. Instead, He gathered and led the vanaras, forming an army that would accomplish what seemed impossible. Under His guidance, they constructed a bridge across the ocean to Lanka, an extraordinary feat described in the Ramayana.
With this very army, Lord Rama proceeded to battle Ravana. In the end, He defeated and killed him, bringing an end to his wrongdoing.
This is the essence of Samarthaḥ, the ability to accomplish great tasks with perfect execution, using the means available.
Incase of his Devotees, the Lord makes them capable and efficient. When one is sincerely devoted and surrendered, even tasks that seem impossible become achievable by His mercy.
This is seen in the life of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who carried the teachings of Srimad Bhagavad Gita to the West and established the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). What began as a humble effort has now grown into a worldwide movement, continuing to expand even decades later.
In the Valmiki Ramayana, Lord Rama is seen accomplishing extraordinary tasks, leading the vanara army, constructing the bridge to Lanka, and ultimately defeating Ravana. Through these pastimes, His capability in performing even the most difficult tasks is clearly seen.
As we conclude this journey through the divine qualities of Lord Rama, we understand that these qualities are not developed independently, but arise naturally in one who takes shelter of the Lord through devotion. By engaging in hearing, chanting, and remembering Him, the heart becomes purified, and these qualities gradually manifest.

Accomplishing Great Tasks: The Power of Lord Rama

When the arrangement was made for Bharata to be crowned king, it came at the cost of Lord Rama&rsquo;s rightful position and led to His exile. Yet, in this situation, Lord Rama showed no resentment&mdash;neither towards Bharata nor towards the circumstances.
Instead, He accepted the decision peacefully and remained affectionate towards Bharata. There was no trace of comparison or bitterness in His heart.
This is the essence of Anasūyakaḥ&mdash;to remain free from envy, even when faced with situations that could easily provoke it.
By applying the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita in one&rsquo;s life, and living with devotion while understanding the Lord&rsquo;s arrangement, the tendency towards envy gradually diminishes. Through bhakti, the heart becomes purified, and one learns to appreciate others without feeling disturbed by their position or fortune.
The episode of Bharata&rsquo;s coronation and Lord Rama&rsquo;s exile clearly reveals that there is no trace of envy in Him, and His conduct remains steady and unchanged throughout.

While searching Mother Sita after her abduction, Lord Rama visited the Ashrama of Shabari, who had been waiting for His arrival for many years. When He arrived, she offered Him fruits with great devotion.&nbsp;
Lord Rama accepted them with affection, valuing the sincerity with which they were offered.
In both these pastimes, Lord Rama extends His grace without distinction. Whether it is delivering Ahalya from her long-standing suffering or accepting the simple offering of Shabari, His dealings reflect a heart that is open to all.
This is the essence of Sarva Bhūteṣu Hitaḥ&mdash;to act for the welfare of all, without considering external differences.

There was no attempt to shorten the exile, no compromise in His conduct. His commitment remained unchanged from beginning to end.
This shows that true determination is not about intensity in the beginning, but consistency throughout.

When Sugriva approached Lord Rama, he was in distress, having lost his kingdom and living in fear of his powerful brother, Vali. In that moment of uncertainty, he placed his trust in Rama.
Lord Rama assured him that He would help him regain his kingdom. His words were simple, yet carried a quiet certainty.
And in time, those words were fulfilled. By defeating Vali, Lord Rama restored Sugriva&rsquo;s kingdom, demonstrating that His promises are never empty, they are always upheld.
This is the essence of Satyavakya, where words and actions are in complete alignment.
The teachings of the Bhagavad Gita encourage one to live with devotion and a sincere desire to please the Lord. As one progresses in this way, qualities like truthfulness naturally arise. When actions are guided by this higher purpose, there is no need for artificiality or compromise, words and actions begin to align effortlessly.

Satyavakya: The Truthfulness of Lord Rama

In the journey towards Rama Navami, we now discuss another beautiful quality of Lord Rama, a quality that reveals the softness of His heart as much as His greatness, Krutajna, one who never forgets even the smallest act of service.

We have seen Lord Rama&rsquo;s strength and His unwavering commitment to dharma. Yet, along with these powerful qualities, there is a deep tenderness in His heart, His profound sense of gratitude.
&nbsp;
This is most beautifully seen in His interactions with Jatayu.
&nbsp;
When Sita was being taken away by Ravana, Jatayu, though old and frail, could not remain silent. With great courage, he fought with Ravana in an attempt to rescue her. Despite his valiant effort, he was overpowered and left severely wounded.
&nbsp;
Later, when Lord Rama came searching for Sita, He found Jatayu lying on the ground, struggling for life. Seeing his condition, Rama was deeply moved. Jatayu informed Him of what had happened, utilizing his last breaths, and left his body, looking at Lord Rama in full absorption.
&nbsp;
In that moment, Lord Rama did not see him as a mere bird. He recognised the sincerity, courage, and devotion behind his actions. With great affection and respect, Rama performed his final rites, honouring him as one would honour his father.
&nbsp;
This is the essence of Krutajna, to remember and value the service of others, regardless of their position or capacity.
&nbsp;
By studying Bhagavad Gita, this quality of gratitude naturally develops as we begin to recognise that how everything we have, our intelligence, knowledge, strength, wealth, health, beauty, everything, is due to Lord&rsquo;s mercy. As Srila Prabhupada explains, understanding that everything comes from the Lord inspires a sincere feeling of thankfulness within the heart. When one lives with this awareness, gratitude is no longer forced, it becomes a natural way of seeing life.

With this awareness, gratitude naturally becomes a part of one&rsquo;s nature. In Lord Rama&rsquo;s life, this quality shines through again and again. The Grateful Heart of Lord Rama

With Rama Navami approaching, we reflect on another divine quality of Lord Rama, Dharmajna, one who perfectly understands and lives by dharma.
We have seen how Lord Rama&rsquo;s character and strength are extraordinary. Yet what truly sets Him apart is His unwavering commitment to righteousness, even when it demands personal sacrifice.
This is most beautifully seen at the time when He was to be crowned as the king of Ayodhya. The entire kingdom was filled with joy and anticipation. But in a sudden turn of events, due to the words of Kaikeyi, everything changed.
Instead of the throne, Rama was asked to leave for the forest for fourteen years.
In that moment, He did not protest, argue, or resist. There was no trace of bitterness or anger. With complete composure, He accepted the decision, joyfully and gracefully, not reluctantly, but as His duty, to honour the word of His father, Dasharatha.
Not only did He accept the exile so gracefully, but He also pacified those around Him. When Lakshmana and Kaushalya were overcome with grief, Rama gently reassured them, remaining steady in His understanding of dharma.
As the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Rama is transcendental to the laws of karma, being their very source, He is never bound by them. He is not compelled to act in any way. Whatever He does is out of His own free will. Such seemingly unfavorable situations arise only so that He may set an example through His conduct, showing how one should act with steadiness and adherence to dharma even in difficulty.
This was not an ordinary act of obedience. It was the expression of a deep and unwavering understanding of what is right, beyond personal comfort or loss.
Today, when even the slightest inconvenience can disturb us, Lord Rama gave up what was rightfully His, something He was fully deserving of, yet remained completely steady and composed.
In our own lives, things may not always go as planned. But like Lord Rama, we can choose how we respond. By remaining steady and acting with sincerity, we take a step closer to living a life guided by dharma.

In the depths of the forest, a formidable challenge arose. The demons led by Khara and Dushana, accompanied by an army of thousands, advanced with fierce intent. In the face of this overwhelming force, Lord Rama stood alone, calm, composed, and unwavering.
What followed was a remarkable display of courage and divine strength. With unmatched skill and determination, Rama defeated the entire army, protecting the sages and upholding dharma. His heroism was not driven by pride or anger, but by a deep sense of duty.
This is the essence of Veeryavaan, not merely physical strength, but the courage to stand for what is right, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Lord Rama&rsquo;s heroism is rooted in service, protecting the righteous and acting according to the Lord&rsquo;s will.
In Krishna consciousness, strength is not something we possess independently. Real strength comes from the Lord, and when one acts in alignment with religious principles, that strength naturally manifests. Lord Rama shows us that true heroism is not just in power, but in becoming an instrument in the hands of the Divine.

The Divine Heroism of Lord Rama

With Rama Navami approaching, ISKCON Bhiwandi is beginning a 10-day series reflecting on the divine qualities of Lord Rama.
Lord Rama is revered as Maryada Purushottam, the Supreme Personality who perfectly embodies righteous conduct. Throughout His life, the Lord demonstrated how dharma can be lived in every role: as a son, a brother, a friend, and a king. Rather than teaching through philosophy alone, He taught through His own example. Reflecting upon these divine qualities is therefore one of the most meaningful ways to prepare our hearts for Rama Navami.
Interestingly, the Valmiki Ramayana begins with a profound question. The sage Valmiki once approached the celestial sage Narada and asked whether there existed a person in this world who possessed the highest virtues, someone who was noble, truthful, courageous, compassionate, and firmly devoted to righteousness.
In response, Narada revealed that such a personality indeed exists: Lord Rama, the prince of Ayodhya. Narada then briefly narrated the life and character of Lord Rama in what is known as the Sankshepa Ramayana, a concise summary of the entire Ramayana, describing how these divine qualities were manifested throughout His life.
Among the many qualities Narada described, the first is Gunavaan, one who is endowed with all the noble virtues.
These qualities were beautifully reflected in the way Rama interacted with the people of Ayodhya. Although He was the crown prince of a great kingdom, Rama never remained distant from His citizens. The Ramayana describes how He would warmly inquire about their well-being, asking about their families, their duties, and their daily lives. His concern was sincere, and people felt personally cared for in His presence.
Another striking aspect of Rama&rsquo;s character was His gentle speech. His words were always thoughtful, respectful, and pleasing to hear. Even in ordinary interactions, He spoke in a way that brought comfort and dignity to others. Such speech naturally reflected the compassion and humility within His heart.
It is therefore no surprise that the residents of Ayodhya loved Rama deeply. Their affection was not merely for a prince or a future king, but for a person whose noble character touched their lives.
In our own time, when conversations can often become hurried or harsh, Rama&rsquo;s example offers a simple yet powerful lesson. Noble character is not revealed only in great achievements, but also in the way we speak to others and the care we show in our everyday interactions.
As we approach Rama Navami, reflecting on these qualities can help us practice kindness in speech, sincerity in our dealings, and genuine concern for those around us.

The Noble Character of Lord Rama: The First of His Divine Qualities

Gudi Padwa and Ugadi is observed on Shukla Pratipada, the first day of the waxing moon in the month of Chaitra according to the traditional vedic lunar calendar. This sacred day marks the beginning of the new year in many parts of India. In Maharashtra and Goa, it is celebrated as Gudi Padwa, while in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka the same auspicious day is observed as Ugadi.
According to Vedic literature, this day is especially significant because Lord Brahma began the creation of the universe and introduced the concept of time on this day. Thus, the festival represents the beginning of a cosmic cycle and auspicious beginnings.
In Maharashtra, Gudi Padwa is celebrated with great enthusiasm. People wake up early, take a ceremonial bath, often with water infused with neem leaves, and decorate their homes with rangolis. A traditional preparation made from neem leaves and raw mango is also consumed, which is considered beneficial for health. Families prepare a special feast with traditional delicacies such as Puran Poli and Shrikhand Puri, adding sweetness to the celebration. The most distinctive feature of the festival is the raising of the Gudhi, a decorated flag placed outside homes symbolizing victory, prosperity, and auspiciousness.
The importance of Gudi Padwa is also reflected in the Bhakti tradition of Maharashtra. Saints devoted to Lord Vitthala expressed spiritual inspiration through Abhangas. In his well-known Abhanga, Sant Chokhamela says: &ldquo;Clap your hands and raise the Gudhi; walk on the path to Pandharpur.&rdquo; This verse beautifully connects the cultural celebration with the deeper spiritual journey toward devotion.
In South India, the same day is celebrated as Ugadi. Homes are cleaned and decorated with mango leaf toranas and beautiful Kolam designs at the entrance. Families gather for prayers and begin the new year by seeking the Lord&rsquo;s blessings. A special preparation called Ugadi Pachadi is offered, which contains all six tastes- sweet, sour, bitter, salty, pungent, and astringent, reminding us that life brings many different experiences.
For devotees, festivals like Gudi Padwa and Ugadi are wonderful opportunities to begin the new year with remembrance of Krishna and renewed enthusiasm in devotional service. Just as Sant Chokhamela encourages devotees to raise the Gudhi and walk toward Pandharpur in devotion to Lord Vitthala, these sacred occasions inspire us to move forward on the path of Bhakti. A weekly programme that is open to all. An informal session that is part Krishna Katha, part Kirtan and all Krishna Consciousness. Sunday Love |Feast

A course crafted for young children between the ages of five and fifteen when they are yet flowering and are receptive to new ideas. The course focusses on story-telling with the Leelas of Krishna, Dashavatar, Ramayan and Mahabharat as also stories from the Srimad Bhagavatam. We also focus on mantra meditation and Bhagavad Gita shlok recitation and special classes are conducted during festivals like Ram Navami and Narsimh Chaturdashi among others. An important aspect is Vaishnav etiquette which instills in your child kindness, compassion, respect for the elderly and the weak, as also charity.Programs for Children is an ongoing course and runs all weekends year-round. On Saturday for children of age between 5-9 yrs, and On Sundays for children of age between 10-15 yrs The classes are free and conducted online on Zoom, between 4 and 5 pm IST. <svg Programs for Children

Snana yatra is a pastime of Lord Jagannath - Lord of the Universe. On this day, Jagannath, His brother, Balarama, and sister, Subhadra, shower Their mercy by allowing Themselves to be bathed by all following the original tradition of worship at Jagannath Puri, India. Everyone enthusiastically assembles at the Temple in the morning to bathe Them in the midst of kirtan.The pastimes are such that after the bathing, They become sick and need to rest and take medicines for two weeks until They recover and are well enough to come out for Rathayatra.

Snana Yatra

Every summer, the Lord of the Universe, Jagannath, His brother, Balarama, and sister, Subhadra, are brought out of the Temple to the streets to bless everyone with Their loving large-eyed glances. This festival dates back thousands of years originating in Puri, India, where it still takes place and is attended by millions of devotees annually. The smiling Lord Jagannath and His siblings ride on huge beautifully decorated wooden chariots, pulled by the hands of Their devotees in a grand procession in the streets of most major cities in the world. Here in the India, there are more than 13 Rathayatra festivals across the nation.

Rathayatra

This festival honours a pastime of Lord Krishna and Srimati Radharani’s eternal love. This sweet pastime is of Them swinging on a beautifully decorated swing during the rainy season in Vrindavana. The festival, which takes place over several days, is celebrated by devotees having the opportunity to personally swing Radha-Krishna Deities along with Their glorification through a beautiful song. Swinging Timings: 7.00am & 7.00pm

Jhulan Yatra

Lord Balaram is the first expansion of Lord Krishna appearing as His elder brother eight days before Krishna’s appearance in this world. While Krishna's complexion is like a dark bluish cloud, Balaram's complexion is like a white autumn cloud. He assisted Lord Krishna in His earthly pastimes of protecting the devotees and ridding the world of the misguided. Whilst Krishna is known for carrying a flute whose beautiful sound enchants His devotees, Balaram holds a plough in His hand that represents His strength. 

Balarama Jayanti

The birth of Lord Krishna is one of the biggest celebrations of the year, celebrated all over the world. Krishna appeared on earth over 5,000 years ago in Vrindavan, India. Krishna means "the all-attractive one". He is the cause of all causes, the Supreme personality of the entire creation, both material and spiritual, He is the God of all gods, and the Lord within everything and separate from everything at the same time. This is the day devotees celebrate His beautiful pastimes, His presence in their lives, taking time to remember their eternal loving relationship with Him and His presence within all of our hearts. 

Janmashtami

This is a very special day for all ISKCON devotees as they joyfully glorify Srila Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of ISKCON, on the anniversary of his appearance in this world. Devotees honour him by reading aloud heartfelt appreciations and homages of his profound influence in their lives and pray for blessings from him.

Srila Prabhupada's Appearance Day

Srimati Radharani’s glorious appearance on this planet occurred on this day around 5,000 years ago. She is the divine female energy of Lord Krishna, His loving potency, which He is all attracted by. Srimati Radharani is the queen of Lord Krishna’s heart and the queen of all living entities. She is Lord Krishna's eternal love and His dearmost devotee, exemplifying the standard of excellence of love and devotion towards Krishna.

Radhashtami

Sharad Purnima refers to the full moon of the autumn season. On this day, devotees celebrate Lord Krishna performing a beautiful dance called "rasa lila" with His dear-most devotees, the gopis - the cowherd damsels of Vrindavan. Devotees come to the Temple to take a breathtaking night darshan of the Deities who adorn beautiful outfits, glittering ornaments and fresh flower garlands. An ambience of the starlit, full moon night of Vrindavana, filled with fragrant flower bushes and tender green creepers is created. The enchanting atmosphere surcharged with melodious kirtans is a beautiful experience!

Sharad Purnima

Kartik, also known as the month of Damodara, is a month for deepening one's love for Krishna. It is considered by devotees of Krishna to be the holiest month of the year. During this month, devotees make extra vows, perform extra spiritual activities, and generally worship Krishna in His form as a young boy, Damodara, who was once bound at the waist by His mother, Yashoda, as a punishment for His mischievous childhood pastimes.
Every morning (at 7.00am) and evening (at 7.00pm) at the Temple, everyone has an opportunity to show their heartfelt love and devotion to the Lord by offering ghee lamps and singing before Him.

Kartik The Holiest Month

This festival celebrates the pastime of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan Hill on His little finger for seven days to protect the residents of Vrindavana from torrential rains sent by the demigod, Indra. To celebrate this festival, devotees build a replica of Govardhan Hill made with various opulent foods, worship Lord Krishna as the lifter of Govardhan Hill, worship the hill as His incarnation, and worship the cows and bulls who are dear to Him. After the worship of the hill, the food items that make up the hill is distributed to everyone to relish.

Govardhan Puja

The magnificent Sri Sri Radha-Madhava Temple serves as a centre of Krishna Consciousness in the heart of Bhiwandi, an industrial town on the outskirts of Thane (20kms outside of Mumbai). The temple is home to Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra and Sri Sri Gaur Nitai and has very quickly become a beacon of Bhakti for the people of Bhiwandi and beyond. 


ISKCON Bhiwandi's Anniversary

The Bhagavad Gita is a sacred text across all Hindu traditions and is considered a summary of all ancient Vedic philosophical texts. The Gita was spoken by Lord Krishna Himself to His best friend Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, 5,000 years ago. The Bhagavad Gita, literally means "The Lord’s Song" and is understood as a conversation between Krishna and Arjuna but meant for the whole world’s benefit. On this day, devotees gather to recite all 700 verses together remembering this sacred conversation between the Lord and His dear devotee.

Gita Jayanti

Lord Nityanand's birth in this world is called Nityanand Trayodasi and takes place in spring. Lord Nityanand always accompanies the Lord in all of His incarnations: as Lord Balaram - the beloved brother of Lord Krishna, and as Lakshmana - the younger brother of Lord Ram. Lord Nityanand is known for His compassion on even the most fallen of living entities and is known as the original spiritual guide for all seeking souls.

Nityananda Trayodasi

Lord Chaitanya, also known as Gauranga - the golden coloured incarnation of Lord Krishna - appeared in West Bengal, India, around 500 years ago. Gaura Purnima is the festival of His appearance, taking place in spring. The Lord appeared in His previous incarnations as Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, and Lord Nrsimhadeva. Lord Chaitanya transformed the hearts of everyone He met through singing of the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra and re-establishing the Bhakti-yoga tradition that ISKCON continues through its lineage today. 

Gaura Purnima

Lord Rama appeared on this planet millions of years ago in Ayodhya, India, and His appearance is celebrated on this day. Lord Rama’s tragic life - the losing of His kingdom, His wife Sita’s kidnapping, and the inevitable war against Her kidnapper Ravana who was King of Lanka - is depicted in the ancient epic scripture called the "Ramayana" - a famous literature read across all Hindu traditions. Lord Rama is known for His adherence to dharma (religiosity) through all situations He faced and is celebrated as the ideal devotee, king, and husband. 

Ram Navami

                            Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious day in our vedic calendar. This festival occurs on the third day (Tritiya) of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Vaishakha every year.  It is the perfect day for all auspicious activities in which we don’t need to follow any mahurat.The word ‘Akshaya’ in Sanskrit means inexhaustible, that which is unlimited or everlasting. 



Akshaya Tritiya (Chandan Yatra) 

This festival is one of remembrance of the Lord as the protector of His devotees and the remover of all obstacles and difficulties on the path of devotion to the Lord. Lord Nrsimhadeva, an incarnation of Lord Krishna, is known for His appearance in the world in order to save His devotee, a young child Prahlada. Lord Nrsimhadeva is prayed to daily at all ISKCON temples. This prayer is observed as a protection mantra.
